The 5600 Econominder saves up to 50 % in salt and uses
considerably less water by automatically regenerating only when
regeneration is needed. Unnecessary regenerations are eliminated by a
simple, mechanical meter that monitors the water you use. Other brands
use electronic metering. Electronic controls are not as reliable ( in my
opinion ) and are always more expensive to repair ( the circuit boards
are never cheap ). |
My personal experience with the various control valves
installed on water softening systems, has proven to me that the Fleck 5600
Econominder control valve is more durable and easier to work on than any of the others
out there. Fleck has over 25% market share in residential control valves.
The parts are readily available from any professional water dealer ( no
matter what "brand" they may sell ) and of course on our web
site.
The Fleck 5600 valve has been in production since 1979. It is an extremely reliable valve.
I have had very good results with our units, which makes for satisfied customers and has contributed greatly to word of mouth sales.
The Autotrol control valve ( Series 255 ) is also commonly
used and the parts are readily available. However, I have found that the
valve discs can not handle chlorinated water. And there are many more
moving parts that do fail with time.

So, for the little extra cost, this valve will prove to be the best in
the long run. I have personally used the Econominder on my own homes
over the years. If you are not planning on staying in your home, or if
the property is a rental, then the standard 12-day Fleck 5600 would be
the next best choice.
